ClemsonMost common problem = DIRT
Cleaning takes care of 80% or more of gun malfunctions that come into my shop. I suspect that is true of most of us.

dpcdWhen I tell them I don't do the following:
1. Work on 22s
2. Work on shotguns.
3. Work on ARs except for threading barrels.
4. Clean anything
5. Why does it take 6 months and more to do anything?
6. If they call at any point and ask if their project is done, I say, Yes, it's done, come and get it.
7. If you don't like my policies, go somewhere else. (Good luck with that).

Maybe not most, but at least 50%. Seems like hunting shotguns are the worst. Actions full of sludge, dirt, feathers, twigs, even a fired .22 LR case or two.
The "what's taking so long" guys are a close second.

Actually, found the 22 brass in a Citori!
Getting so I turn away almost all Turkish made semi autos. I tell the shop owners that want me to "just look" at them to lead their customer over to the new/good used rack.
