Looking over my reloading die collection last night and came across a set in .25-20 that included some empty brass. Short, bottle neck, with a rim. Some loads are listed in some of my old catalogs. Are there any rifles out there for sale in this caliber? It really looks like it would be a neat cartridge for a single shot rifle. Can any be rebarreled or rechambered? I don't want to spend a mint but this sure peaked my interest.

my brother re-lined shot out/rusted 25-20 Winchester low-walls, marlins of the period, successfully- in fact I'm looking right now at a box of his reloads in 25-20 (I save them because he is gone).

savage/stevens marketed the "340" style (?) bolt actions in 25-20.

I thought that Marlin made some in 25-20 a few years ago, I just checked their site and no dice now. An old WW I vet that lived with us had a Rem. pump in 25-20. He told us he used to slay the deer with it when he was a kid in the Texas hill country. Maybe you can find a used one, I saw a Rem pump recently at a gunshow.

Good luck and good shooting.

I expect many, many deer have been taken with this "pipsqueak".

If I remember correctly "the Jordan Buck" (I think) that held the #1 Whitetail spot for many years was taken with a 25-20. Not my choice for deer but in that case at least, it was "what he had."
