333_OKHSoldered On Scope Bases
I was recently looking over as many pages with custom rifles as possible. I came across a few rifles that had Talley type bases soldered or welded to the action so they looked like double square bridge Mausers. Is this a commen thing? I kind of liked the look, and they has no visible screw holes for mounting so they must have been filled.
What is your opinion on this option?

Dago RedI would love to have custom bases made and fit to my rifles, it is a great option in my opinion, but not a cheap one.

PCHere are some pics of custom Talley bases I had made for M98 .404 J project......................I asked to have them sodlered on but my smith said it was not needed and that screwed down with loctite etc. was more than sufficient.

Tex21333,
If I could just throw this out there:
As much as a custom bases can cost, why not have your 'smith TIG them on and get the action re-heat treated? I believe that very nice 1935 Chilean we've all drooled over received this treatment and the results were excellent.
This is just a thought though.

333_OKHThe Reno guns!
I can hardly say the name without passing out! If that is what happened with those rifles it was perfection! I cannot even believe how nice they are.
Does anyone have Duane Wiebe's e-mail address. I have his phone, but I find myself without a phone and on my mobile CPU a lot. I was hoping to chat with him again about doing my rifle.
