JoeATCA2008 Dodge Ram 1500 - snow chain question, need assist
Last month I purchased a new 2008 4x4 Dodge Ram 1500 with the tall 20" street rims/tires that don't allow use of snow chains (less than 1/2" clearance to upper arm on front end). The owners' manual notes the restrictions on "S" type chains if I down-size to 17" rims. I prefer to buy an after market set of wheels/snow tires since I only plan on using the truck for hunting trips and vacations with the wife and the 21' travel trailer. Does anyone have any recommendations for wheel/tire combinations (without lift kit) that allow the use of snow chains if I get into nasty stuff on a late season elk hunt? Thanks in advance. Joe

big_footYou might look at 'quick fit' chains. My dodge is an '06 2500, and it has LOTS of room for chaining, but I think the quick-fits are shorter in heigth when they are installed than conventional chains.
I've bought a couple of sets at les schwaab over the years, and had one break on me, but they replaced the whole set free/no questions asked.
