BuffHunter63Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems
I picked up a nail on my left rear tire last week in my 2018 Tacoma Off-Road.
The TPS warning light came on, and I switched to the display that shows the tire pressures. Three tires showed 28 psi and the left rear showed 19 psi and falling.
Got home okay, and sure enough there was a screw embedded in the tire.
I pulled the tire, removed the screw and then plugged it with one of those tire repair kits.
Filled it up to 28 psi and put it back on the truck.
I let the truck set for a couple of days to make sure the plug was holding and then cranked up the truck.
To my dismay, the TPS Warning Light was still on. I did the TPS reset and drove around the block.
The TPS light stayed on, and the tire pressure display continued to show 28 psi on all the tires, but the left rear which was still showing 19 psi.
Perplexed I checked the air pressure on the right rear tire and it read 28 psi.
On an impulse, I decided to check the tire pressure on the other three tires. They all read 35 psi with my tire pressure gauge.
I aired the rear tire up to 35 psi (the placard recommends 30 psi for all 4 tires).
I started the truck up and the TPS Warning light went off and the display showed all four tires at 28 psi.
Are the wheel tire pressure indicators normally that far off?

model7LSSThe damn TPMS are a blessing and a curse. I can't answer your question for sure, but sometimes they have to be reprogrammed after a fault before they will work(properly) again.

TREE 'EMAre you sure your tire pressure gauge is accurate?
I’ve never seen a Toyota factory TPMS sensor that was more than 1 pound out of spec

DCS MemberMine lit up after the first cold front. All 4 on the ground are in spec. Now I suppose it’s my spare, which I can’t access easily...
