We have had a months break because of our fasting month.

It is over, and our first desert outing is planned for tomorrow evening.

A BBQ on the dunes.

We have been working up to this slowly.

It was suggested a few days ago

The location chosen is about half as far as where we normally go.

Trouble was the original, further, place we have a good land mark where we met, which was easier to get to.

This one is only 5 kilometers from the main road, but in a bit of obscure place where one can get lost, and stuck in some nasty dunes.

So I suggested I go with one of the main members of this adventure, to actually pick the right sand dune.

We met at the main road at 4 in the afternoon, and he left his Jeep and came in with me in my Toyota Landcruiser.

Beautiful sunny day.

We drove into the desert, and he was so impressed how smooth my car was compared to his.

He said it was "4 million times smoother".

I said to him he should try a Landrover, which is even worse than a Jeep.

He said said only a madman would choose a Landrover.

As it happens, we have a friend who loves Landrovers.

So we sent him a message about our conversation.

His immediate answer was - the Jeep owner is a Scotsman, the Landrover owner is an Englishman - he hoped the bloody Scott would get stuck in the sand, and I should take a video of it and send, so he can enjoy it!

As we drove into the desert, we could see an enormous sand wall coming, obscuring the sun.

We stopped, and suddenly were engulfed in a sandstorm, where visibility was non existence.

High winds, hail and a bit of rain????

This lasted about 15-20 minutes, then all was clear, and a rainbow came along??!!

He asked "did you plan this?"

"Plan what?"

"Did you know there was going to be a sand storm?"

"Are you kidding? How the hell would I know about a sandstorm in advance?"

"I wouldn't put it passed you"

We continued looking for the perfect sand dune, and we found it, and marked it on the GPS.

On the drive back to the main road, we found a car stuck in the sand.

The driver was waving frantically for help.

I dug him out with a quick jolt.

He gave us his business card.

He was the owner of a recovery company??!!

This did it.

My Scottish friend could not help himself.

He started sending photos, videos and text about our little adventure.

Saying "he said let us go out for a quick look see in the desert! We ended up in an enormous sand storm! One could not see the front of the car. Hail. High winds. Rain! And ended with a rainbow! He said just a quick look see in the desert!!"

I have some photos we took with our phones, and will post them.

Now, back to making sure that everyone finds this magical place.

I made a video on Google Maps how to get there, marking the road every few yards.

I sent this video to everyone who is coming, saying that it was especially made to be so easy, that it was not just Blonde Proof, but Women Proof!

First answer I got was "there is nothing women proof!" rotflmo

We had an unforgettable evening in the desert!

Arrived at our destination late afternoon.

Kids had great fun playing on the dunes, adults, played football, soccer to some of you who have no idea what real football is like!

Dinner was steak, beef tenderloin, chicken and grass burgers for the grass fed brigade.

Evening was very cool, so we stayed longer than we had anticipated.

Then the fun started.

Hessa and her friends wanted to leave earlier, so I gave her specific directions how to get out of there in the dark without getting stuck.

She did.

Then others wanted to go.

I gave them same directions.

And then we packed up and left on the way home.

Suddenly the phone started going.

Those who wanted to find their own way out - and did not listen - were stuck.

Backwards and forwards from one lot to another, we were there until 11 at night - we actually started out at 8:30!

We have special prizes for some of the foreigners here.

Special mention goes to Americans, Sri Lankans, and Swedish drivers.

They don't listen to reason, and get lost in less than a kilometer in the dark.

A kilometer where they had already driven on, and before dark was very easy to see from our location!

A memorable evening not to be forgotten! rotflmo

Being an evening event, I have few pictures and some drone footage before sun down.

I will post photos later.

The children had an absolute blast on the dunes.

Most of the adults avoided going up the dunes, some did, and gathered at the top panting.

The kids never stopped.

Up and down.

Up and down.

Covered in sand so much they actually were telling their parents they needed a shower!

To the amazement of the mothers, as they normally have to black mail them to take a shower!

Yes.

One of the attendees sells ice cream, and he brought a freezer full of it.

Summer is here, and many people are scared of the heat!

Last Friday friends went cycling early in the morning, and I said I would drive out with refreshments.

I went before sun up, and funny enough, it was actually cool at 6.

saw lots of gazelles and Arabian Oryx.

Met with my friends and had donuts, boiled eggs and drinks.

Yesterday went out with a couple of friends in the afternoon.

Temperature was showing 43 degrees C, but a strong breeze was blowing.

Took some very nice aerial video of the camels and their fantastic shadows.
