LabmanLost my buddy Nikki
Yesterday I had to take that dreaded last trip to the Vet with my Lab Nikki. She was two months shy of 13 and had cancer. Done this before, but it doesn't get any easier. Here are a few pics of Nikki doing what she loved:

Texas KillartistI am sorry for your loss and unfortunately have been there.
I vowed that as long as I am able, I will never be w/o the only love money can buy.
My boy will be 12 in March and I try not to think a/b it. I picked up a little girl in preparation and had my boy collected.
One time w/ an empty house was too much for me !

Highlander7Sorry to hear about your loss. It's been some time since I had a dog (English Setter) and she also passed away from cancer. I got home Iraq and got to spend about two weeks with her before she passed away. It didn't make it any easier on me but, I do have the memories.

JungleboyTom,
I feel for your loss, I had two black lab females, mother & daughter, that looked
exactly like your Nikki. It's tough when the time comes, but that's part of our job.
It looks like you gave her a great life.

Paul ReedTom while we never had a lab as beautiful as yours, I did make the same trip that you have with our family companion a few years back. Very tough to do but as you try to keep telling yourself it is for the better...my condolences on the loss of your friend.

Angus MillarSince I was a child only one person has seen me cry, my vet. The ache diminishes and the memories remain. So sorry to hear that you have lost your pal.

Nick MarcianoMy sympathy. I've lost 3 and it doesn't get any
easier. It helps to think of the good times and
the friendship she unselfishly gave.

I am sorry for your loss. As others have said it never gets easier. However, memories and good times last a lifetime.
We had our lab for 18 years before he gave up,-- its hard.

Bill/OregonCrap. I am tapped out emotionally, being on a megadose of cry pills -- prednisone -- for a blown disc and just posting on an Oregon fishing forum about dead fathers. And still, this hurts. I had to do this with my Brittany, Watson, not long ago. Is it wrong to hurt for a dog as much or more than you hurt for a human being? I don't think so, at all. Their love is purer than human love, and their sweet lives are so short. God loves -- and hates -- us.
There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.

Use Enough GunWe lost our Chocolate lab 8 years ago and I still miss that dog! He was the best hunting dog, companion and family dog we could have ever had! He was 13 when he finally couldn't walk and was going downhill fast. It's had to take them in and have them put down, but you can't let them suffer.
