I just wanted you to know

PeterI just wanted you to know
that it is 1:38 ET in the USA. At 2 pm I have an appointment to have Laddie, my Chesapeake Bay Retriever put to sleep. You guys helped me with him 9 years ago when I got him and he was "a handful". Taking your advice resulted in a wonderful dog, faithful, protective and loving. A year ago he became sick with what was diagnosed as Cushings Disease. His treatment was expensive, but after a year Laddie made the decision for us. He stopped taking his pills and stopped eating. he has lost 35 pounds. Laddie is a GOOD dog. I just wanted you to know that.
I hope I see Michael Vick on my way home. I will send his sorry ass to hell without shedding a tear, but then, I have none left today. I just wanted you to know....
Peter.

butchlocthe only sorrow greater than losing a dog, is to never have had one

Nick MarcianoI've been through it also. We lost Queenie 6 years ago and still grieve over it. Our two dogs that we have now help, but each dog is different and it's never easy. My sympathy.

mstarlingMy most sincere condolences.
Losing a member of the family is terribly, terribly difficult. Will take a while for the good memories to overtake the pain. Just takes some time.

PeterWell, last Saturday we went to Georgia and picked up a retriever mix, 14 months old, through the shelter up there. Isn't the Internet wonderful? He is not Laddie, but he is a wonderful dog, lively, anxious to please and with a zest for life. He is quite a handful as he was an outside dog. So, we start the training all over again, but that is OK.
Life goes on.
Peter.

mstarlingPeter,
May you and the lucky retriever have many happy days in the field and quiet nights by the fire. Cheers!

(The babies are such a blessing.)

Nick MarcianoPeter:
Anyone who has ever lost a dog knows how you feel. My sympathy. I have 2 other dogs now,one being up in years, but I still remember Queenie and how she told me it's time. I think of her daily. Sorry.
