For anyone who has owned & loved dogs, "Rin Tin Tin- The Life & Legend" by Susan Orlean, is highly recommended. A real dog, Rin Tin Tin was rescued by an American soldier as a puppy on a battlefield in France during WWI, went to Hollywood and became a movie star. A very moving and touching true story.

There was a segment about this book and Rin Tin Tin on last Sunday's news/feature show, I think it is called Sunday Morning. They had clips from the old silent movies, the TV show, etc. And the book's author was interviewed. Very interesting.

Yes, that is where I heard about it, ordered my copy, got it yesterday. There is much to the Rin Tin Tin story, much more than the 50s TV Western. He was an icon during the first half of the last century in America.
