luv2safariGood Days in The Field
Ms. Scarlet was bored.
The Cat was no damned help!
So, she took me quail hunting down our west irrigation ditch...
I took my old Robust No. 4 16ga.
A week later we had some snow, AT LAST!!

Perfect for chuckar hunting over on Ragged Top...
We did pretty well.

Her kids, Rocky & Cookie were fantastic that day!

Cookie's last retrieve of the day...
I tend to love these Llewellins for some reason.

GSP7Nice pictures.
Where are you in N. Nevada?

luv2safariGSP,
Thanks! We are in Fallon, NV, about 50 miles east of Reno. We have pretty good quail hunting in the irrigated valley around my home, and chuckar are our main gamebird. Our season runs from the second Sunday in October until the first Sunday in February.
Our chuckar are WAY down this year, due to the prolonged drought.

mstarlingWell Done!
Made my day. Yesterday sometime the heat pump died. Could not fix it yesterday. The guys worked on it this morning and finally got it fixed about 1:30. In the meantime, we also figured out that the well pump had a problem and it quit. The plumbing guys could not get the parts until Monday, so I tripped out and got 20 gallons of water to allow us to flush the toilets and wash dishes. Did not enjoy the day.
Thank you for the relief from the day

The cat, Thompson, does come quail hunting with me sometimes. He isn't gun shy at all and loves to help find downed birds. He's pretty tough and chased the neighbor's Lab out of our yard and about 1/2 mile across the desert a month ago.
