She's developed a way to tell us when she thinks it's feeding time.

First she sits at her bowl & stares at us.

If that doesn't work, she yaps a time or two.

And if that doesn't work, she picks up her feeding bowl in her mouth & throws it across the room.Smiler

Today, she goit it wrong & picked up her water bowl by mistake & chucked water everywhere! LOL!

So far she's been an absolute dream.

We've had her for about 10 days now and she's already learned her name, to come when called and sit when told.

She pretty much house trained herself within about 5 days and is slowly learning not to mess with the cats. Wink

And best of all, she hasn't chewed anything she hasn't been given to chew! tu2

Many congratulations. She is a beauty and looks pretty confident for her age. Did you find her in Portugal? I love Labradors - happy owner of a 16 month old black male myself.
Kind regards

Yup, she's VERY confident and VERY intelligent which is exactly what I wanted in a puppy.

I did buy her in Portugal but it took me over a year to find a good breeder. There were plenty of backyard breeders selling pups of unknown quality with no papers etc but very few good breeders offing good quality, well bred labs here but the one breeder I did eventually find was well worth the search. Smiler

Are you going to train your youngster to work to the gun?

Steve. In answer to your question, yes. It is a first time for me (training) and I started out a bit too ambitiously, which caused many conflicts between my puppy and myself. Gave it a rest and we´re now back on track.
In your picture it looks as Lola has dark brown eyes. She is indeed a beauty. Good luck.
Kind regards

I've trained a few Labs over the years and each has gone at a different progression speed but one thing I have learned is that you should never hurry them and just work at the speed they're happy with.

At the moment, Lola seems very intelligent and I suspect she'll go fast because she gets bored easily but time will tell on that.

Whatever speed she goes at, I know that the training is gonna be a lot of fun for both of us. tu2

She's going great guns thanks mate.

She's now had her 3rd parvo jab and can go out now & has started to discover scent. A few days ago, we were walking up the lane and she suddenly hung a sharp left turn, her head went down and pace increased...... at the end of the tar was a set of wild boar tracks and she followed them like a good un'. Smiler

She's also started bringing me gifts of every twig she picks up so I've started taking her into the bottom field and giving her 2 or 3 short retrieves once or twice a day and she loves it to bits.

I wouldn't usually start this at her age (3 months) but she's keen to go and I'm keeping it short and making it fun for her.

I've gotta say my years are catching up with me as well and when I could once walk all day the arthritis in my hip now limits me to far shorter walks but I'll get by with the help of a few painkillers.

I also plan to get a Portuguese Pointer as well so then Lola will have someone else to play with instead of running Susan & I ragged! LOL!
