Tritonics, go with their 1/2 mile range set up. anything less can be questionable in thick bush.

be aware that shock collars can lead to seizures in dogs

The e=collar is just another training tool once the dog has been taught. All 3 of mine have worn and benefitted from them.

I have to agree on tri-tronics.

But most importantly get with a pro and learn how to use the thing. Used correctly the e-collar is the most humane training device ever......used incorrectly they are draconian!

Dogtra, always waterproof, just remember that a wet dog or a dog in water, the shock collar will be 20 to 30% stronger. Btw, why do you need a shock collar if you are only doing waterfowl? Perhap's the trainer is faulty?

Don't we mean a electric hearing aid that fits around the neck.

My dogs hearing improves a lot after using it just a little bit.

I am a firm believer if they are used properly they are a big help.

But they can be missed used also.

I have used Tritronics for quite a while and have had very good luck with them. As pdog shooter said it improves their hearing. I have Brittanies so very low stimulation is required with this breed, at least in my experience.

Mine wear them for the most part in the field but are seldom used. Sometimes just having the collar on improves the control.

Why do I need an e-collar. To prevent a condition I have myself. Selective deafness!!! I want to step up a notch in my dogs training compared to my past efforts. I understand it is only one small part but my 5m/o chessies already is testing his bounds. He will wear it now but it will not get turned on until I make sure I can do my part.

I use Dogtra collars. I have heard that Garmin has made changes after buying TT and that replacement parts have been a problem. Dogtra collars have been very reliable for me, have all the features you need and cost much less.

Collars are easy...first you have to teach/train...then you repeat....then you overlay the collar....and persuade (not ) until reliable. Then the collar is just for safety.

Tri-tronics stands by their products. My most recent collar was replaced. No questions asked. I might see what they can do with an older collar.

As has been said, a dog needs to know the collar first. A pro trainer is good there.

The UKC ( United Kennel Club ) Hunting Retriever Club is one of the best things that ever happened to the "Duck Dog" world.

I made many friends through club events. Most clubs have "training days" where you can meet other people and pro trainers.....

Pros usually always need someone to throw birds for them!

The Tri-Tronic flyway has worked well for me. Run your dog with the e-collar on for awhile to condition him before applying a nick(pressure), so he doesn't associate the collar with the shock. An HRC, AKC, or NAHRA club is also great recommendation. Good luck

i've used most all the brands currently have sportdog that I got on sell at bass pro actually like it the best , be sure you use it correctly I run them on my dogs always but only activate them only 2-3 times a season once the dog is trained, Used properly there is no better training tool, used incorrectly you Will ruin your dog. good luck !
