get the green ball
yesterday was not a good day. we had to put our golden retriever away. 9 years old, cancer found just a month ago. andy was a people, as much as any dog could be. for those of you that have or had goldens, you will know. there is a special place in gods world for good dogs, there must be. while they say dogs are colorblind, andy could pick out a green ball out of mound of balls. always he would pick the green one. we would take him for a walk, we could hold the lease on the way out, but on the way back he would always be holding it, head high prancing home. it will be awhile before another golden pup will enter our home, but it will, for life without one is unthinkable. amos, out english setter knows, somehow he knows. almost emphatically, he is by our side, never 2 feet away. and andy is somewhere playing ball. get the green ball any, get the green ball.

Here is a poem I penned in your friends honor

Lending our hearts

When a friend is lost

Our hearts are sad we know

But was it worth the cost?

To lose even the smallest part of our soul

If our lives had never crossed

Would the person I am be the same?

The strength of a man grows stronger

As honor and devotion is more valuable than riches and fame

But it would be nice to have them with us, just a little longer

All we have in this life

Is the relationships that we tend

And the many small parts of our heart

That we always lend

Very sorry for your loss.

It does get a little better with each passing day. Not much, just a little.

Filling your thoughts with all the great things about your dog really does help.

It has comforted me over our recent loss of our dog and I know there is a special place for these fine animals where they can play and have fun.

We are diminished just a wee bit, whenever a good dog leaves home for the last time.

When we had our litter of Brittany pups this year, 2 of our buyers had just lost their dogs due to cancer last fall and winter. The best therapy for you loss is to get another dog soon. They both have emailed us recently to thank us for the puppies and to tell us how having the puppy made them forget their loss.

Butch, lost my Wirehair a couple of years ago, didn't want another dog either, I now have a 3 and a half month old female Wirehair, Katy, I can't imagine not having her.
