Considering the fact that 6mm-PPC is virtually impossible to find, do you think that a tuned .223 would shoot accurately enough to satisfy a "paper puncher" who never engages in competitive shooting~? Brass would be prepped with the same care and attention as was always given the 6.

The vast majority of ppc shooters use readily available 220 Russian Lapua brass to form their 6PPC cases. If you’re already willing to do the brass prep, it’s not rocket science, and the rewards are great. Are you thinking of having a custom rifle built for one or the other, or finding a factory rifle?

Your on the right track, my favorite varmint gun is a custom sako L-461 in the 6mm/223 (6x45) and its done 100% on deer and antelope within 200 yards..

Yes to the 223. A 1-8" twist handles the 77gr Sierra Match King for long range and also 55gr Nosler BT's and 60gr VMax for closer targets.

Long Range Shooting

Not sure what kind of rifle you're using, but...

Assuming you are using a bolt action, K31's answer is right on. Both those bullets can be loaded to normal lengths and give excellent accuracy. The 69 Sierra is also a great choice.

If an American Sporting Rifle, the same answer applies. In addition, if the rifle has a Wylde chamber, you can load bullets like the 70-80 grain Berger VLDs almost 1/4 inch longer and use them as single load. My Rock River varmint version often holds the 75 Berger VLD well under 3/4 MOA at distances out to 600 yds. It also hold the 55 Nosler BT and Sierra 69 to just over 1/2 MOA when loaded to magazine length.

Depending on the chamber in a bolt action, those options may be available to you. The stand .223 chamber has a shorter throat, so less flexibility to longer loads.

Yiu can make a very accurate rifle of practically any cartridge.

What is important is the quality of the components.

Good action.
Good barrel.

Good gunsmith who has ex in in building bench rest rifles.

I have a savage 223 bolt gun with a 1 in 7 factory barrel. It is a true half minute or less gun when I do my part.

Many .250 to .375 groups at a 100

Best at 500 is 1.75. sub 3 inches at 600

Many thousands of Pdogs have fallen to it.

Good optics good bullets
