who here shoots a 7MM-08 for compation. and at what range. in info on barrels,loads, bullets, ect.

I don't shoot competition anymore but if I did, I wouldn't hesitate to use the 7-08. I have a Remington XP-100 in 7-08 that has a custom barrel on it. Out of a 15" barrel, the 130 gr speer chrono's at 2752 with a standard deviation of 7 fps. I can shoot all day long, as many shots as I care to shoot into a fingernail at 100 yards. MOST accurate weapon I own. give it a go.

I think the 7-08 is part of the evolution of competitive chamberings on the 308 case.

I could be mistaken, but I think David Tubb went through the 308, 7-08, 6.5-08, 243 (6-08) process.

I'd shoot it with a good high BC bullet, but the really heavies are out because of the limited case capacity.

Probably a 162gr AMAX or 168gr SMK or Berger if I had one.
