Hello gang,

I just inherited my wifes year old Nikon D7000 after we purchased her a new D800. She is a semi-professional and I'm not. She has been helpful but I want to get some basic background on the camera and especially the HD video aspects before my Botswana safari in October. Do you guys have any suggestions of sites that can help me get rolling with the video and photo capabilities of the D7000? Any and all help will be appreciated.

I joined a site called www.nikonians.org There are several professional and semi-pro photographers that participate and they can generally help anyone get the most out of a Nikon.

They also have a section dedicated to the D7000 also known as the D7K

I'm a member of Nikonion as well, but I have found kenrockwell.com very helpful in the nuts and bolts of how your camera works. shayne

Ken Rockwell does give some excellent information for the beginner who shoots in jpeg only. But for a person shooting landscapes or nature or wild animals you really want to progress to using RAW and learning how to post-process with good software to get the most out of your images.
