Recentley i purchased a canonn s3, and run it on a LEXAR 1 GB 133x PROFESSIONAL SD CARD, is there a limit as to the card size that can be used, there are 2GB and 4GB cards which im considering
Also are there any cards one should keep away from as far a quality goes

I think you can use up to 2 GB of the normal cards.

You can use up to 8GB cards that are labelled SDHC.

At least that has been my experience with other cameras - like the Panasonic FZ50.

The 4GB cards will work. Honestly I don't know if I'd go bigger. Just make sure you format the card with the camera before trying to use it.

This is especially true if you want to shoot video with it (the s3 is shoots great video).

Only limit I'm aware of is the 1gb file size limit for video files. The camera captures video in AVI format which makes editing a snap but takes up lots of memory. The 1gb and 2gb cards are getting lots cheaper. You can get three smaller cards for the price of one 4gb card and have more storage. Shop around

Why put all your eggs in one basket?

I have an S2IS, and my son has an S3IS. I am fairly sure that 2GB is max for these two. However Canon has announced a S5IS, which should be generally available in June (I think). It will use the larger SDHC card, and will record upto one hour of video. I have not done any video with my S2, but the photos are great, and I have not filled up a 1GB card. Can you convert the video to a DVD format.

Yes you can and the quality is much better than many consumer camcorders. I've used Pinnacle Studio in the past to do this. But be warned unless they've gotten a lot better Pinnacle has issues with some hardware (ie. video cards and motherboards.)
