Plinker603Re: Sony DSCF717 Digital Cam
Well, i ordered the Sony DSC848. It is so new, most places on the net don't have them in stock. The camera ranges from $919 to $1200. The cheaper priced places don't have them, though. I paid $999 from a bone fide Sony distributor, but they won't have it in till 29 December.
I was thinking about getting a SLR digital, but i priced lens and they can cost thousands of dollars just for one lens, and i'd probably want two or three different ones. Plus, i figured all those manual adjustments would be too hard for me to figure out.
I can't wait, this is a 8 megapixel and 7x zoom. And now you can't post pictures on here, right? I haven't seen any on this new format.

NorsemanDSC848?
It's so new that I cannot find any information in those Digital camera magazine.
Plinker603, would you happened to know what size (MB) of memory that issued with the card?

Plinker603I'm not sure what memory is issued with it. It says memory stick and also smart media. Don't know if you can use both? Hope it can use smart media, because i have several of those cards.
Here is url:

Mormally they issue a very small capacity card and if you want more memory, you have to buy a bigger one.

CJW313I hadn't heard of this new camera so I checked it out at dpreview.com. It looks really nice. I have seen other people's photo safari pictures with the DSCF717 and they were good. This should be a great camera.
As far as memory, it comes with none. You can use Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Compact Flash Type I/II, Microdrive.
Have fun with your new camera.

Plinker603They were supposed to get the camera in stock on 29 Dec. Now they just say out of stock. I hope they get it soon. The hard case was an extra accessory and they sent that.

scwSaeed-
Can you capture still pictures off of your movies? How is the quality if you can?

Saeedscw,
I know you can do that on the computer while editing, but the quality is not that good.
Remember, you are dealing with 640x480 pixels, which is only about 300Kpixels.
