Perhaps because they are French, the Lumiere Brothers are pretty well known in France. That their family name means "light" is one of those inexplicable coincidences.

I would have thought it would have been the dye transfer process invented, I believe, by Kodak. Perhaps Kodak took some of the ideas from this first process to invent the dye transfer process.
