I have a hard time with dogs running free, if the eat a deer carcass they will also chase them. You are in a warm climate but in areas where the snow can get deep they are worse than wolves..I would think about some wire!!

Loose/mean dog = dead dog in my woods.

That coyote has a nice thick pelt.

Update: I caught either this dog or one similar in my large cage trap. Which i had set because of some recent problems with my ducks to where i think they're being chased. They act like they're afraid of their shadow and one of them is limping. I called the county sheriff to find out what to do with the dog and i told him my duck concerns and he said "SHOOT IT!" He said if it's chasing your birds, put a hole in it. It's nice to know your rights, but i didn't actually SEE it chasing the ducks so i opted for the animal shelter.

So then, i took it out there. The adolescent boy working there came right out to the truck bed and started to lift the lid on the cage and leash it. I suggested we carry the cage inside the chain link fence that surrounds the building. So we carried inside the fence then he lifted the lid and made a loop of leash which the dog ducked on its way out. Then he couldn't catch it. He and the lady employee followed behind the dog offering it food as it ran around and around the perimeter of the fence. Figuring they didn't need an audience, i went inside to fill out the papers. The lady came back inside and said it's no use it's gone. I said what, can't you catch it? She said no, it went out a hole in the fence. Then she took the form and tore it up.

I don't think it can find its way back here, it's about 12 miles or so.

me and some friends rented a country house together about 20 years ago.One of them had a pit bull mix that was a real traveler.He was seen several times miles away from our house running down the highway.One time a friend saw him 25 miles away.He was back the same day,not even winded.

We should be required by law to shoot unattended dogs and cats that we see while hunting.

I use to do that until one day after a shot on a cat my Dad piped up and said "I hope that wasn't a little girls pet". Now I let them go.

I have had to shoot my own dog for running deer,,,Actually , killing dear....... And this was a dog that had run a bear off me,,and I had raised her from a pup ..........I,ve had feral cats come in to fawn bleat , deer calls ..They got a bullet..... All dogs will chase something that runs from them .....I,m very thankful to the local populice for not killing my male dog here while he is on his procreation forays........He,s a great dog and I thot it a public service on our part .... If he was starting trouble with a neighbors dog or something ,,where he shouldn,t be... And he got shot because of it ,,I wouldn,t blame them...but I would hope they would do a clean job of it .....I can,t protect him if he is out and about.....

Had three different cat loving neighbors move out and just leave their loving pets behind. Needless to say the area is over run with them.

Animal control has two cage traps and an 8 month waiting list on them. That's four batches of kittens. Had a batch under the edge of my patio early this spring.

Since then I've bought a .17M2 and fixed up four so far. The rest know what's up when I head for the door, they head for the back fence.

Bought some traps recently, need to get a spring loading handle yet then I'll start doing it the easy way. They crawl thru a 6" pipe thru the foundation wall of my shop and make a mess in the dirt floor. Can't keep the pipe plugged, they dig it out. Since that's out of sight and they have no business in there at all. There's two place's I feel will make a dandy place to catch them.

Should I just block the crawl hole with connibears, or should I put some bait on the trigger and get them by the neck?
