Prewar70Degreasing
I would assume your snares need to be degreased and dyed same as traps. What process do you use? Also, not sure of the proper terminology, but do you also degrease the wire used to hold your set over the trail. Thanks.

maxbearI use walnut hulls in boiling water. Makes a great natural dye.

22WRFNah. I used to throw a dozen of them in the dishwasher to get the grease off of them, and then boil them for a just a few minutes in some water to which I added a little bit of lye, or else put them in some water to which I added a little bit of vinegar and let em sit for a day or two. All you want to do is get the shine off of them. No need to get them black at all.
As for the wire, just don't use shiny wire.

J_ZolaI you have time hang them for a summer outside. If not wash with soap and boil in baking soda. For the tie wire support just let it rust a little. Dying has not proven to work any better for my friend and I.
