Simple minnow trap?
Does anyone have a plan for building a simple minnow trap for fish bait?I have been thinking a square screen and a opening with a rope?Bread in the bottom? What kinds have you used or seen?Had a real nice professional store bought one before ....but the kids lost it playing around...ready to get serious with the bassfever...

10 inch diameter cylinder of 1/4 inch hardware cloth, 2 feet long. Inverted cone in each end with 1 inch diameter apex opening. Either hing in the center or make a square opening to empty minnows. Works great.

A quick trap is to take a square minnow net(one of those square ones with the crossed bars and a lift rope, put it on the bottom. Take a small rock or two, and make the wet, and roll them in flour. Drop them on the net, minnows come in and nibble on rocks, you lift net. You can use some dough balls wrapped around the small rocks too. works nicely off a bridge or side of a boat.

I've used hundreds of these. Save yourself the trouble and just buy 3 for $17. These break in half so you can get the minnows out and the key to the whole thing is the connector. The clips alone will cost you $6.50.
