MinkmanForum Picture
In the picture at the top of the forum, is that a huge mink, a little otter or some other musclidae that the trapper is holding?

GrumpaI'm pretty sure that is Johnny Thorpe holding a fisher. Not 100% sure, but pretty sure.

Black FlySure looks like a fisher, to me.
I thought it was Johnny Thorpe, but I was never sure. I've not seen many pictures of him when he was younger, that I knew who it was. Was that one from one of his FFG articles? I know he wrote a lot for them way back when, but I never paid much attention to who wrote what when I was a kid. Wish I had paid more attention and kept all those FFG's.

erictIt's a mink - amazing what the Google Image search can find. Here's the pic on another site with some more info:

Grumpaerict- Great research! And what a site to get linked to. That has got to be the biggest head on a mink that ever was. Thanks for the info.

Don't tell Johnny - the guy in the pic. He seems to think it's a mink.

tomahawkerI spent a week with johnny Thorpe in the Adirondacks on his trapline. That is not him in the photo. If that is a mink, its *;#-!!* huge.

twilliThat's a large buck mink. I know because I caught one last year that size and I used to raise ranch mink.

tomahawkerDo you not see the otter tail over the guys knee? I say no more.

youngoutdoorsIf you blow up the pic it doesn't look like a tail of either species on his leg.
