fur prices?
when I was a kid I ran about 85 traps and made real good money , $30 for coons , $50-75 for fox and bobcats $ 15 for oppossem . ringtails were anywhere from $10-20 . this was in Texas in the 70s -early 80s what is the going rate for pelts nowdays ? I still have all my old trapping stuff and thought I might do some trapping if its werth it ?

It's worth it for the exercise and the joy of being outdoors, learning from critters and catching a few predators or varmints.

As far as fur prices, it's hardly worth the effort. Prices are way down, fuel prices are way up. You won't hardly break even if you run a long line. I don't break even with my 250+ trap line. Beaver averaged $26 at last weeks sale, coyote $19.00, rats $2.75. Only thing up was coon at $18.65 .

I sold some misc. fur to Petska a couple of weeks ago, Good fox were $25.00, Cats $400+++, for big wide bellies. Coyote $35-40. Well furred coons $20-25, early badgers $10.00. Deer skins $3.00, and elk $8.00. I had 5 deer and 1 elk, that was free money I would have tossed them otherwise..All these prices are for put up fur, in the round will be $10 less or so.

I think there is a large difference in price for western furs versus upper midwest furs. The trappers I talk to in Canada are getting about what I mentioned. Those price were for a sale a week and a half ago in Mid Michigan.
NAFA prices are about the same from what I'm hearing

Deer skins here bring between $11 and $16.00 apiece.
Bobcats barely bring $65.00 no matter how big

I have heard from our Game Warden that Bobcats were bringing big money last year. I think he got over $400 for one good cat. Not sure what the average is though.

Anyone else see this kind of prices on cats?
