Ban on cat hunting in Colorado goes down
Happy to report that the proposed ban on hunting mountain lions and bobcats failed in Colorado.

Despite it going for Harris and being a blue island in the mountain west…

Goes to show not all democrats are lost.

It would have been a blow to the elk and deer herds.

Idaho Fish and Game are finding the wolves are killing Mt. Lions that wonder out into in the desert where they are vulnerable to wolf pack capture.

If I recall the words of the ban advocates in the ballot book, it started with "hunting ____ isn't necessary". What an interesting metric to use when when writing a new law. Necessary? Really?

We still have the largest elk herd in America though. So, I'm staying!

Can I ask what a "surgeon slut" is?

We (Colorado) are not out of the woods yet; there is a move afoot to raise mountain lion tag prices and limit the number of lions that can be taken.

Awhile back Colorado had a separate 'Parks' Department and 'Wildlife' Department (game wardens and wildlife experts). The good idea fairy showed up and combined the two. Now there are tree huggers at the table making wildlife hunting decisions. Not good.

Having lived in NM and AZ as an Army officer with excellent elk hunts in the 70s-80s in Colorado,
I feel partially qualified to comment on what was once a beautiful conservative state.

Migrants from the Left Coast first, then legalized marijuana somewhat later helped to ruin it. With legalized drugs, a state does not get an influx of doctors, lawyers, engineers or scientists. You get everyone else.....with the front range sinking fast...
