Hunter308New Hornady LeverEvolution Ammo
Has anyone tried the new Hornady LeverEvolution ammo? They've come out with a line of Lever gun ammo with pointed bullets. Info at
http://www.hornady.com/story.php?s=198The pointed tip gives better ballistics and longer range. They solved the problem of a pointed tip in a tubular magazine striking the primer of the round in front of it: They use a flexible tip that "gives" like a sponge when it touches something.
The 45-70 load is 325 grains at 2050 fps, with over 3,000 lbs of energy at the muzzle.
Has anyone tried this ammo? How did it group?

Sixgun SymphonyI have not seen it and it sounds like a gimmick that will not work.
Time will tell.

RLIThese new flexible tip ammunition may work but some questions
can this ammo be used with other makes? (Winchester/Hornady mix in the tube)
are the primers standard?
does the flex tip break down over time and become hard?
will cold weather harden the tip?
I would presume Hornady put a lot of work into this ammo but time will tell
