BuglemintodayNosler 300gr Partition .458dia
Why did Nosler discontinue this? I went through my stash of reloading stuff and could not find anymore...went to Midway and google searched and they have been discontinued

Going to start checking for them while at gun shows....(Even though I have a ton of .45-70 430gr Hard Cast loaded ammo)
I wonder how often we would have to email them in order to make them restart production on these

crsheltonThe .458 Nosler PP 300 grain was once used in Winchester Supreme .45-70 ammo and I killed some deer with it in .45-90 and liked it so much, that I bought some for reloading at 2200 fps in the .45-90. That was one hell of a leopard load!
It could be that Winchester stopped using the bullet and Nosler dropped it for financial reasons.

buckeyeshooterCould not tell you why it was dropped. I can tell you it was the best bullet I ever saw for the 45/70. You c8uld push it hard and it always worked right.

sambarman338I don't know the answer but am very familiar with the problem. Whenever I find some product I really like the bloody thing is doomed. Sure as eggs it's soon on the close-out rack.
If you miss them there, all I can think of is try every the shop you come across and buy all remaining stock.

Big Bore FanThis Nosler was the best bullet for high velocity loads.

crsheltonBBF,
Yes, we loaded and shot them up to 2600 fps in my 1886 .45-90. Could have gone to 2800 fps but since Nosler told us that they were designed for a maximum impact velocity of 2200 fps, we reduced load to that velocity. At 2600 and abover they became varmint bullets!

Yes all good stuff dies young !
I've had good success with the 300 Barnes in my 1885 . The ordinary 300s are far too soft under 100 yds.

AtkinsonI had my best luck with a 45-90 oct. rifle with Hornadys 350 gr. bullet on elk and deer. When a bullet is dropped from production you can bet it was a financial decision, it simply didn't sell well...
