Savage_99On any rifle everything has to be right or any good load will not shoot well. So just load up some suggested loads with the bullets and powder that you have now.
I picked up a M88 a couple of years ago and its not very accurate. I checked that all the screws are tight. My suspicion is that the crown could be better.

LRH270My .308 88 shoots Federal 150 factory into about 2" at 100; I haven't played with it much beyond that as all I really use it for is a Texas deer gun, and it's plenty good for whitetails out to 150-200 or so.

loud-n-boomerThe two Model 88's in .308 that I have owned (traded one and gave teh other to my son) were both consistent 1 to 1-1/4 inch guns at 100 yards for three shot groups. My standard load for 150 grain bullets in the .308 is 43.0 grains of IMR4895 in a Winchester case with WLR primer and either Speer or Hornady bullets.
I'd like to find one in .243 Winchester.

Thomas JonesMine likes IMR-4064 real well.
I don't remember if I tried 150s in it but 165s were more acurate than my pre 64 featherweight. Better than an inch for 3 shots at 100.
But it heats up prety quick...tj3006

cptmclarkMy best load for the 150 sierra sp has been 44 or a tad more of 3031, at about 2900 fps. On a good day sub moa but average more like 1 1/4. This rifle also likes the sierra 165 sp with a max load of 4064.
