Michael RobinsonMarlin Model 93 Sporting Carbine in .30-30
I picked up this fine specimen over the weekend.
Thirty eight and a half inches long and six pounds even.
Man, it is sweet.
The .30-30 lever action carbine is king.

Michael RobinsonI will, Roger.
But I am thinking I need to send it to Doug Turnbull forthwith.

Bill/OregonMichael, that is the first one I have seen in this configuration and it is just lovely. Congratulations are truly in order!

RogersGunWorksAs a gunsmith, the Marlin M1893 is a very favorite. Oh, how they look with new wood and color case hardening! And, they are so much simpler and easier to service than the Winchester M1894. I know this is heresy, but from the gunsmith's point of view, the Marlin wins every time. I have and enjoy an M1893 TD, a lovely rifle. Let me know if you'd like to see some photos of an M1893 Marlin I restored.
Cheers,
Roger

BitterrootI have a 93 and love it. It is so light and nimble. I have a couple more 93 actions for future builds. Congrats on finding yours.

This is an M1893 I restored several years ago. It got new wood, a detailed polish, color case hardening, and some engraving. It was stunning.

Indeed I always loved how those square bolts look and their simplicity for maintenance is one of their strong points. No heresy about it.
I have a friend who has an 1893 short rifle with a twenty inch barrel and a full length magazine. He had hunted quite a bit with it years ago. I’ve tried everything to get him to sell it to me but with no luck. I don’t blame him.

I do have an original Marlin .410 lever action though given to me years back.
