Just received my 99 Takedown 250-3000 Savage made in 1917. Bought online. Very pretty checkered, original, specially ordered wood with perch belly stock in great cond. great bore. Barrel screws off and on easily and is tight. Couldn't be happier!

Most excellent rifles. I had early 250 & 308 solid frames. Wish I'd kept. Don't load it too hot, can have ejection problems.

I guess it was product placement but Ian Fleming equipped James Bond with a Savage 99 .250/3000 in 'The Man with the Golden Gun' (IIRC). It may have even been the take-down model, being used for JB purposes. Fleming claimed it was the lightest rifle available in a big-game calibre.

You've acquired a doozy, Bill. That's an early .250-3000 as well.
