Sights for Winchester 1895, .405Win.
I am seriously thinking of putting a Providence Tool Co. (Lyman #21 copy) available from Buffalo Arms rear sight on my reproduction 1895 but does any one know if the factory front sight can be used?

cheers
Steve

Have one.
Took out thr "rachet" ramp left the Buckhorn flat on the barrel. (no need to just lazy)

Works like a charm.

Frank and the guys at Providence are great guys, Take a look at their new Peabodys COOL Cool

I have one mounted on my 95 and removed the rear sight and used a filler.
The sight is nicely finished and comes with the screws and a tap to get the job done correctly.
Also has a nice option of being able to use a marble sight base so you can use screw in eye pieces. Ask about it if you order.

Thanks for the info, but is the front sight ok to use?

sorry, should have been more specific.

I HAD to remove the "rachet: or "step" ramp or the buckhorn interfered with the PT copy of the Climin' Lyman.
BTW, I have the Marble set-up, it is the way to go ,IMHO.

For some people and some loads, the factory front can work. Personally, I'd replace the front with a slightly higher XS white striped ramped front blade. Shows up great in the shadows while offering much better definition of elevation and windage.

Works fine on mine after removing factory rear sight.
