Rebarreling a BLR 81 ?
I've got one in .308 (steel side) that has been sitting in the closet for a long time. I just loan it to friends who need a deer rifle come season.
I've already have a blr .358 20" bbl which I hunt with for bear. I was thinking of rebarreling the .308 to a .358 with a 22" bbl to get a little more vel. It seems to me the longer bbl might also give it a better bal. What do you think and who would you get to do the job ?

It would be really hard to rebarrel these guns because of the rotary locking lug system.
I'm pretty sure that it takes special tools to do the job and in the long run would be more trouble than its worth.
I just worked on one for a customer last week and I was not very pleased with it.
My main problem is that the bolt is held closed only by a little detent on the lever and by the pressure of your hand squeezing the lever.
The bottom line is don't waste your time trying to rebarrel as I doubt you will find anyone with the right tools.
