I have been Looking at a 50 Alaskan conversion based on a Browning 1886 SRC. This one was converted by Doug Turnbull. I would greatly appreciate any feed back on the 50 Alaskan. Does any one here have one of the Bowning 1886 models ? I don't really know why this one appeals to me. I ceratinly am not a fan of Jap made guns but the 50 cal big boomer and case coloring is calling me

I've got one of the Jap. 1886 45-70 take down. I would not trade this rifle for the past 5 years production of Marlin 45-70s. This rifle is just fine as it came out of the box. The only modifications I've made are drill and tap for tang site, then decided that a reciever site would be easier on my thumb knuckle.

How is the trigger creep on it ? On thing I hate about the new Winchesters, especially the '94's are those incredibly sloppy triggers with 1/4" of creep. I have never seen one of the browning's in person so I am flying blind. In fact I have never owned any Browning at all.

The trigger on mine is acceptable. It's not anything like the refined trigger on my Remington, nor my Mark X or my AR10t. There's a bit of take up and a smidge of over travel but nothing that's not managable.

If the 1886 extra lite reproduction rifles are made as well as the Mirouko shotguns are then they will be fine rifles,

I can not wait to work the action on the one I have on lay buy to see if it is as smooth or smoother than my Marlin 1895.
