yankees145-70 reloading
Anyone ever reload the speer 350 grain FN bullet in your 45-70? This bullet was developed for the 458 but will work in the 45-70. Looking for load data!

TXpitdogIf seated to the cannelure, the Speer 350 will be too long to cycle in a Marlin 1895. I bought a box of them, but took them immediately back. They Hornady 350 FN will cycle cleanly in a lever gun.

475GuyYou could cast about for a canneluring tool out there to make another cannelure for the proper col. I did that years ago with the 350 gr round nose that I and a bunch of us faced the round nose flat to use in the Marlin. I think that the tool is phased out now but there something out there.

yankees1With a Lee crimper you can crimp where you want so this bullet will cycle through the Marlin lever. Coyote Hunter[Marlinfirearms.com] has loaded it with a C.O.L. of 2.60" and it cycles fine but you have to make a new crimp with the Lee. I have a few of his loads and was wondering if someone else had any additional loads with this combination. Thanks!

LeoCalI tried the Speer 350 on a hog and it broke up. The Hornady 350 RN worked better.

PCIf anyone wants to try a tough 405 gr bullet woodleigh makes one specifically for the 45/70 it is a tough bullet.
