Re: Wild west receiver sight fit 1886 reproduction ??
PC,

I have an Ideal/Lymans #38 from 1951.

The sight #56 is "For hunting rifles with flat-side receivers. The picture shows it on a 94, and the description says:

"Models individually designed for:

Winchester 03, 53, 55, 61, 63, 64, 65, 92, 94 models. It does NOT list the 86 or 71. It is the "closest" one in the book that I have, which is the combined reloading manual and catalog. It does say that a "Complete Lyman Catalog 10 c". So maybe if someone has the "complete catalog", it shows a different model for the 86? I don't know why the #56 wouldn't work, but? They do exclude it from the list.

Sorry I can't help more.

The 86 action is wider than the 94 series actions. The center of the bridge of sights for the 94's is not down the middle on an 86 action. There may be enough horizontal adjustment to be usable but it would be seriously compromised. Not sure about hole spacings for attaching screws. The original may have been a 66W as opposed to the current 66WB. The 66 does have a wider bridge with center in the correct line down the action/barrel mid line.
