andym79Which one would you buy?
A 2010 Rossi 44-40 20" round barrel in excellent condition! $580
A 1903 Winchester 92 38-40 20" round barrel in reasonably good condition! $645
I think I know which way I am leaning, just looking for some independent reassurance!

Alberta CanuckAgreed Again! That is a really, really good bargain price for the .38-40 Winchester. Probably about half or less of what it would bring at a gun show here.
My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

AzGuyThe price difference is insignificant!
If you can afford one you can afford the other...buy both, shoot both, keep the one you like best and sell the other.

Alberta CanuckBAW -
you need to immigrate here and bring those with you!!
Then I'll tell a couple of local "Ethnic Americans" you have them. A few days later I'll be able to buy one of them from those upstanding citizens in a local bar/pub for $50 cash money with no background check required!
Always wanted one, but that's probably the only way I'll get one these days....

andym79Well I finally took the old girl out to the range this morning, and for 110 she seems to be doing okay. Here are a couple of photos:
50 Yards
http://www.thehighroad.org/att...2&stc=1&d=1387597632This was 10 shots and I'm sure if I had done my part it may have been a 10 shot hole.
100 Yards
http://www.thehighroad.org/att...=192633&d=1387597624I can't really call this 5 shots a group, but I am hopeful with the right load I can get this rifle shooting 2-2 1/2" groups at 100 yards!
The load is federal large pistol primers, 180 grain RNFP 16 BHN cast bullets and 6 grains of trailboss.
At a 100 yards I think a little more velocity is needed so I will try a 4227 load!

Atkinsonthe win. hands down and its a steal btw at that price, depending on condition of course.
I own a Win. mod 92 rifle ser. #178, first year of production..It was my grandfathers Texas Ranger issue gun that he paid $7.50 for and they took 40 cents a month out of his check to pay for it, It was used up and down the Texas Mexico border wars in the 1800s and early 1900s and later in life as a Deputy Sheriff at Marfa, he shot and killed a notorious bank robber with it between Marfa and Presidio, Texas. The bore is rough but it still shoots 2.5" groups with irons at 100 yards..I also have his win. 94 ser. no. 2124 and it shoots inch groups at 100 yards with irons every time..won lots of money and pickup load of turkeys with that one..
Get that Win.
