MikelravyGreat Did you get complete penetration on the hippo? How about the jumbo? I've been wanting to tackle something big with a lever gun.

The hippo was with a 400 TSX at 80 yrds and iron sights. Entered just over the ear and I believe it stayed in the skull. The ele with the tusk was shot at about 20 yrds with a solid, one shot brain and the bullet exited the rear! The tusk less was at 20 yrds and the bullet was recovered in the shoulder. It could have been reused other than the rifling. The buff, the bullets were not recovered.
Seems to be working really great. I will have 475 grain solids available for those that just have to have the .300 SD bullets, they will be at about 1950 FPS for speed.
