NaphtaliGrizzly Custom Guns in Columbia Falls, Montana, offers a flat black finish that is elegant. A friend had his M1895 Marlin semicustomized -- that is, barrel shortened, stock rebedded, Grizzly's custom sights, etc. Included was their finish. I have no idea of its cost outside of the conversion. It will be difficult to obtain a more attractive finish.
Hope this helps.

Grizzly AlbertHave you given any thought to having the gun parkerized? I've had several of my Mausers parkerized without a bit of trouble. Not too expensive either.

Cliff LyleI had a 788 LH 6MM duracoated for use as a pickup gun and am very pleased with the outcome. I had the barreled action, base, rings and scope all coated. It's a nice finish, completely impervious and was less than $200 total.

AmmohouseI think Birdsong Green T or Black T would be the ticket.
Here's a review on it along with contact info, TacOps uses them also!!!

LJSI have heard very good things about the coating Bansners applies. Also, take a look at Robar.

bigdoggy700Robar is expensive, but the best coating I have come across. The silver NP# finish or the black polymax coating is self lubrication and makes actions very slick and smooth. It is really great on lever actions, but rather expensive.

Sixgun Symphonyblack matte?
Clean your gun at the end of the day and you need not fear the harsh climate.
