I can't believe I found one - pre-64 M88 in 284
Made a phone call after seeing a M88 in 284 listed for sale at the local gun club. I called the owner and from the discription it sounded like a post 64 284, but when I stopped by to purchase it today low and behold it a was pre-64 284 in really nice shape. After 40 years, I stumbled onto 1 of 2935 of these rifles made. Whoopeeeeeeeee

Fritz KrautCongrats!

That's a fine gun in an interesting calibre. I've got a simple post-64 i .308W, and I love that rifle. You have found something still better!

Congrats just proves that there are still great rifles out there to be had.
I have a Model 88 in 284 as well. Try the Hornady 139 grain soft point flat base. This is very accurate in mine, holds together well and doesn't have to be seated as deep as the ballistic tip or SST. I use IMR 4350 and accuracy is better than many bolt action guns.
