Frank MartinezThe 500 S&W runs at considerable too much pressure for the Marlin.
Wild West is building on a modified action to my understanding.

500MagManthat I dont under stand I have a NEF in .500 S&W Mag and I aslo have a 45/70 as well but if you look at some of the 45/70 and 450 Marlin Hot Loads thay are prity close to the same as a standerd .500 load ?????OK take that Back i just checked the Garret web sight the hihest presser they have is 35,000 PSI the .500 S&W in a rifle broduces 54,000-58,000 PSI sorry about that
When the Marlin 336 action is used for a 45-70 a groove must be milled in the bottom of the barrel to accept the magazine tube which is .700" dia. This leaves a wall thickness at the threaded end (tenon/chamber) of the 45-70 barrel of only .110". The 45-70 is already pushing the limits of this action. Wonder what the Wild West "modified" action will be like?

recoilpadMarlin couldn't even make the .480 Ruger work in their rifle.

raamwI believe the 500 S&W case dimensions are too large for the current Marlin frame to handle safely. I can put a 45-70 case inside a 500 sw mouth to mouth
