The blury picture is my new 101 year old 1892 octagon rifle , in 32/20.
It shoots prety darn well if I say so my self. I put about 15 rounds through her real quick and the barrel was not even warm.
So that will be a fun plinker. And its prety cheap to shoot with only 12 grains of W-296 in a load.
The other one is my new, 87 year old 1895 in 30/40 Krag.
Its really cool to me. it has a trap door in the steel but plate that contrains the origional 87 year old cleaning kit !
It shoots very very well. I have only shot it with 2 loads bot of witch were 180 grains and while acurate beyond my expectations, they both shot way high. Like 7 inches above point of aim at 50 yards.
My understanding is that the rifle, a Saddle ring carbine, with an elaborite military style ladder rear sight was designed for a 220 grain round nose at 2100 FPS.
My hope is to get it down with in about 2 or 3 inches high at 50 yards.
I bought these 2 old winchesters as both play toys and investments.
I may well hunt the Krag. I still have the funds for 1 more and am looking at a 92 SRC in 44/40.
