good plinking lever gun?

im interested in a good plinking lever gun besides a 22 caliber. one to shoot open sites or thru a peep site. one with a 24" barrel. is there one that fits these parameters? any suggestions?

My suggestion doesn't have a 24" barrel, but it's alot of fun to shoot. Try the Marlin 1894 in .357 Mag. with light cast loads. Of course you can always shot .38 Spls. also.
I have a .44 Mag. in an 1894, and enjoy it alot, but after shooting a friends .357 Mag. I've madeup my mine to buy one "for my wife".

There great for hunting jackrabbits and other small game, just load them like a target load. With a hot loaded 158gr.JSP we have also taken deer in Texas.

I seem to keep coming back to my Winchester Model 53 in 25-20 (22 inch barrel). Very accurate out to 100 yards with a Marbles peep.

There are a lot of marlin cowboy models with a 24" barrel still on the market in 38/357.
I have a 45 colt with 24" barrel and Marbles tang sight. It is a very fun plinking gun with light loads of Unique. But can be a real thumper with heavy H110 loads.

Snider 700-- I think the Marlin you would be interested in is the 357 in the miniature Guide Gun configuration. I don't remember the model but it has a short barrel and very light and handy to have around. I bought one for my lady and she won't let me shoot it anymore since I have the companion model in 44.

MA Bell--Buy one for your wife, HAH. I don't know how many times I've heard that one. Just wondering, how many guns have you bought for your wife that she don't know nuttin about?

Best plinking gun out there in my opinion is the 1892 Winchester, or one of the assorted copies. Just one hell of a fun gun. Yes, it can be found in a 24" but you may have to do some looking.

Now why would a guy bring up something like that,,

Marlin M1894 in 357 or 44 Mag. Drilled and tapped for scope mounts if you want.

Yo derf,
Marlin .444 is my choice too derf, and my son's, & everyone else that shoots it. Use a funky looking 200 gr. Lee bullet, the 214 gr. Lee, the 240gr. Lee, Lyman 429244 with powder charge (BlueDot) of 13 gr. up to 19.5 gr. The heavier the bullet, the more powder. Just wants to make me burn my Win. '94 Black Shadow when I cycle that butter-smooth Marlin action. Nice heavy gun, no recoil..What can ya say. Try it, you'll like it!

I loved my Browning model 92 357 mag for plinking but just didnt have any other use for it.It was one one of the funnest guns I have ever sho and the smoothest.I sold it for another gun I wanted.It was lots of fun but just was not powerful enough for me.I wanted to convert it to 357 maxium but didnt.I will probally regret selling it ,I dont think many 357 Brownings were made.

A origional Winchester model '92. Standard barrel is 24" . I have one that is 80% in 44-40 early 1920's production excellent bore and not one turned screw, Fancy walnut and half magazine for sale. The other one I really enjoy is the 32-20.
