Thomas JonesShe shoots !
Took the old 30/30 out,
for her 1st range trip. The one pictured on this forum.
Using a rather mild load of W-760, under a sierra 150 grain flat point, I put 4 into 2.12 inches using the lyman peep.
And when I went to fire the 5th round, I discoverd that somehow while yaking with a guy at the rang I managed to load a spnt 30,06 case in the magazine, had to bring the rifle home and pull it about half apart to get the darn thing out.
But that was not all bad as I learned quite alot doing that and I got the thing assembled properly too witch I was unsure I could do.
Am In the process of slapping together a load 1 grain under max with W-748 and a Hornady 170 grain flat point.
Learned a lesson here too !
With my bolt guns, I often load a little long and see if they chamber. Well when I did this with my 30/30 The the bullet tip stuck on the flange of the barrel witch sort of sticks out just a smidgen and wedged the rim of the case against the bottom of the bolt.
Not wanting to pull it apart again, I looked at the stuck round for a long time befoere I figured out all I had to do was push the round back into the mag tube , hold it there with a screw driver tip and push the loading gate in and pull the round out through the gate.
Could have done the same thing with the stuck 06 case.
Oh well learned somthing today...tj3006

Thomas JonesYep hepner in oregon.
Missed a nice buck out there last year with my Roberts by over guessing the range.
So , I got a .257 weatherby so I can come prety close to point blank as far as I can shoot !
