C.WathenRuger Single Six .22LR/.22MAG
What are your experences with this revovler? I'm planning on carrying it while trapping to dispatch animals that I catch in a leg hold. Thinking about getting one in a 5 1/2" barrel. Any info on this gun would be nice.

StonecreekShould work fine for the stated purposes. It's a high quality gun.
You can buy a replacement spring to lighten the trigger pull, but at a range of 6-10 feet, trigger pull shouldn't be much of an issue.

KWardI have 2 of these guns my son "s is a 4 5/8" and mine is the 5 1/2". Great gun< I almost always have the .22 mag cylinder in, as I have other .22 handguns. It is very accurate and a real favorite. It took me a while to find a good leather holster but I did.

RJMI have an older Blue 4 5/8" and one of the new stainless Hunter Models with a 7.5" barrel and QD scope. Have shot just about nothing but Magnums though both guns and they both shoot great...this was the first sight in sesson at 25 yards...the three out of the group where during scope adjustment..
Instead of getting a new trigger return spring I just take off the left grip panel and drop the leg of the spring off the one side...have done it on all my Blackhawks and Single Sixes...

Cossack2Don't be surprised if the 22 LR isn't as accurate as the 22 Mag. Delieve it or not they are different diameters so the barrel fit is a bit loose for the 22 LR. My mag shot wonders, the LR shot paterns not groups.
So, if you're buying it mopstly for 22 accuracy have a look at the Taurus Model 19, 9 shot.

nordrsetaI have the Bisley Single Six and find it accurate if a little heavy for a 22. IIRC the regular Single Six has an alloy frame so it ought to be handier. All that said, if all you need a 22 for is popping critters in the noggin a Ruger Bearcat ought to be just the ticket.
