SaeedWeighed v Unweighed Ammo Accuracy
As we are all in a sort of lockdown, and not many people are coming to shoot here, I am having some fun with 22 ammo testing.
I am going to take a box of ammo, and sort the rounds by weight.
I will shoot 3, 5-shot groups each with ammo of exactly the same weight.
I will shoot 3, 5-shot groups, with the ammo of varying weights.
Anyone wishes to guess what the results will be?
Here are some examples of the weights.

NormanConquestBill/Oregon just bought that Martini from SKB + was informed that it performed best with the Eley ammunition. I hope he sees this sight, could be helpful.

cgbachAchieving accuracy with a .22lr is truly a dark art! Back when did not someone sell a gauge to measure .22 rim thickness, implying that consistency here improved accuracy? Since you have moved into the dark sciences you might take a look into this (if you have not done so already).

HasherI would also like to see the weighed ammo test done again with rim thickness gauged va non gauged.
The issue with rim gauging is that the rim can carry slightly in thickness around its circumference, so when measuring you would need to take an average.
In addition I would think you would want to orient the head stamp the same exact time as you fire it so as to reduce as many variables as possible.
Saeed bravo to you for doing this test and thank you for sharing the data.

TomPWhen weighing the cartridges, is the lubricant disturbed in handling?

SaeedEvery type 22 amok have different lube.
The match ammo generally have oily or waxy lube, which is very consistent from round to round.
Others, like ELEY High Velocity Rabbit brand, uses lots of real hard lube, and very inconsistent.
Of course trying these for accuracy is pointless.
To answer your question.
I just pick the round and weigh it.
Whatever lube on it is weighed too.
