Old ammo disposal
I have a large quantity of Russian Jr .22 lr ammo I wish to dispose of. Does anyone know the best way to get rid of it safely?
Thanks.

The ammo is pretty inconsistent, and the outside has that green funk of corrosion that keeps it from chambering and extracting well.
I might just pour it in a hole in the ground.

Your local sherif or police can dispose of it safely.

I'd toss it in a burn barrel. Entertain the neighbors with the sounds of a firefight with no real risk to property. Without a chamber and attached barrel the bullets don't go anywhere far or fast when cooked off. Of course, I'm the guy that back when I still smoked put out a cig in a puddle of gasoline in cold weather to prove a point about vapor pressures and ignition. Nobody was injured by that either as it just put out the cigarette.

BURN it! one round at a time, downrange. Excellent practice for when you shoot the good stuff. And FUN! Cool
