My 22lr CBC has gone sour
Please assist. I have on hand rem subs and sellier bellot std vel, its all i can get in PE at thispoint in time. I recently fitted a suppressor and I cant get one hole groups at 25m. Before the suppressor only one load was deadly accurate , Swartklip HV HP but they are no longer made. Is it the suppressor causing innacuracy or do I buy a whole bunch of different brands and test them out? I want one hole groups at 25m. Should I take the sling off?
I also free floated the barrel but not bedded it.
PLEASE ADVISE. Thanks

GeorgeSRimfires are notoriously fickle when it comes to ammunition.
Adding the suppressor introduced a new variable, as it changed the barrel harmonics. Check the suppressor for baffle strikes.
If you cannot locate old stocks of Swartklip HV HP, you will have to keep testing with different ammunition.

Thanks George, pardon my ignoance but the suppessor for barrel strikes? What do you mean by barrel strikes with the suppessor? Thanks in advance.

butchlocit does seem rather obvious that the suppressor would be the problem. Look carefully at the muzzle end and see if the bullet is hitting the edge of the suppressor holes. this would be an indication that the suppressor is not aligned right. The suppressor by nature will direct gases into different areas, which will affect bullet flight. If the gun is making a reasonable group, you might have to be satisfied with that. One hole groups with a suppressor are considered very rare
Butchloc, I have not yet used the suppessor at 50m to test groups. At 25m I get about a 12mm group with one flyer nearly an inch away! I cant see any contact marks on the muzzle end to indicate if a bullet is making contact with the baffles. If I decide to remove the suppressor and pack it away would I need to recut the muzzle or just leave as is and screw the thread cap back on? Will this affect accuracy nrgatively or do I really need to start all over again with accuracy tests? My rifle was shooting the heads off Rock Pigeons at fifty before the suppressor was fitted.

Thanks for your help.
Regards
Harry

GeorgeSsorry, lal. My 'smart'phone uses predictive typing and insert 'barrel' instead of baffle.
Sometimes, a barrel is threaded off center to the bore, which results in the suppressor being a bit off center.
A bullet can strike the blast baffle (the first baffle the bullet encounters after leaving the barrel) and adversely impact accuracy.
Take the suppressor off and shoot another few groups. If the accuracy improves, have the barrel threads checked for concentricity with the bore. If they are oky, have the suppressor checked for same.
