CZ 452 Article
Just read an article in the new American Rifleman about the "under-appreciated classic" 452 American. Nice to see someone sing the praises of the CZ in print. I get tired of reading about only the pricier brands, regardless of their attributes, and appreciate hearing what the 'pros' think, good bad or otherwise, of firearms that fall more within the budgets of most of us. And I know from past threads that folks here appreciate the CZ's qualities. -WSJ
Heck, I'm the only one I know of who doesn't like the damned things. And even I admit they usually shoot very well. But just their safeties alone give me the willies. Out here it's Brno this and Brno that, it's enough to make you sick.

nordrsetaYeah, the backward safety is a goofy nuisance but otherwise "pretty is as pretty does." It's every bit the rifle the 77/22 is (maybe more) for half the price.
I've never seen one of these new American models, but I wonder how they can be made and imported for about half the price of a Ruger.
(Not that there is anything flash about the 77-22 anyway.)

FerdinanddI've owned a CZ-52, and shot a few others. They are accurate, in my obersvation. However, the fit and finish is nowhere near a Ruger bolt rifle.

OhiosamI have the left hand 452. It'll out shoot my buddies 77/22, and look better doing it. Like everyone else I hate the safety.

Paul TunkisI bought a CZ put a Burris Balistic Plex scope on it. I tried several different brands of ammo and found that the Federal HP would do about dime sized or less 10 shot groups at 50 yds. and stay around 1 inch at 100 on calm days. My friend bought a Kimber put a Swariski on it, went through every brand of ammo available and it will shoot 1/2 inch 5 shot groups, at 50 yds and might do 1.5 inches at 100... Much crying and nashing of teeth at his end.
Now that Kimber is MUCH better looking than my CZ but looks don't kill. Also, his Kimber might be an exception, he does have bad luck with high end rifles, but come on. My whole rig cost less than his scope let alone the rifle.
It all depends on what you want, what you can afford and what your expectations are for the money you lay out. I just want dead gophers so I'm less picky about looks.

Well, yes and maybe. Maybe your mate just hasn't found the ammo the 77-22 likes.

Lets not write him off just yet.
Once I tried two very cheap disgusting Anschutzs, the worste would shoot about a 9 inch group at 30 yards. Along the way I tried Rem yellow jackets, wow, a tack-holer suddenly.
