mrmit22 green tag
Anyone had experience with CCI Green Tag LR ammo? Local gunshop had a shipment in and I bought 2000 rds at 5 cents apiece. Is this worth keeping or should I move along??

muckThat depends on what you want the ammo for. If just blasting pretty expensive. If you want to do some good target shooting, green tag is a fairly good selection. Not as good as Elly tenex or other high end 22 target/match ammo.
And it always depends on what your rifle likes.

PeterI have found CCI Green Tag to be very accurate in my rifles and pistols. I would be interested in buying some at the right price.

Alberta CanuckMany places Green Tag is one of those things supposedly made and available...but virtually made of unobtainium.
I think lots of areas would have people very eager to buy it at $2.50 per box or $25 per brick.
My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

Steve E.Great ammo, shoots great in most of my guns. I call it the 'poor mans match ammo', without getting into the ultra expensive match ammo.

enfieldsparesUsed to shoot a lot of it here in Britain some twenty five to thirty years ago. Depsite being "rifle" ammo it works very well in rimfire revolvers and pistols.
What lets it down as true match ammo is that there is the odd, occasional, round that just strays outside the usual 1/4" to 1/2" group at twenty-five yards.
Such that you never have the confidence in it that, in the correct rifle and if you do you part, that it will shoot more than 94 or 95 ex 100.
But it will certainly hold inside 1" at twenty-five yards. I see it as just below the quality of Eley Club.
But its big advantage of Green Tag is a dry lubricated bullet that doesn't pick up grit and a bullet style that feeds well through a magazine.

Green tag wasn't outstanding in my 513T, but better than bulk-packed or high-velocity by quite a bit. The old 513T might be a little loose in the rifling, best with Ultramatch, Eley or Lapua. Federal Lightnings worked all right for informal target shooting, oddly enough.

stepchild 2I think Federal Lightning(510) is some of the best reasonably priced ammo out there.
I'm talking informal here. It shoots well in every .22 that I own, rifle or pistol.
