Savage MK II 22LR heavy barrel Accutrigger
popcornAs some of you know ,a while back, I was looking for a reasonably priced 22LR that had good accuracy for fun punching of paper. I gambled and bought the above mentioned Savage and put a 6-24 BSA scope on it. The scope was a factory reject that was sold to me.

Replaced the scope with a Tasco 6-24x40 and today hit the JackPot. These are the results with various ammo, all 5 shot groups at 50 yds.

  • Wolf Match Target-----.460"
  • Win T22---------------.676"
  • RWS-------------------1.195"
  • German std.-----------.700"
  • German Match----------[[.076"]]!!!
  • Old Zapper------------.380"
  • Rem HP----------------.750"
  • Blazer----------------.790
  • Random cartridges-----1.620"
  • 2nd. Wolf target match-.280"

Looks like this Savage is a keeper Even with that cheap Tasco scope. Fun Gun ! BOOMroger

Yet again, it is proven you don't have to spend mega bucks to get a fun, accurate rifle.

    Enjoy.

Oh my gosh, what great groups. Speaks well for the whole outfit and the Trigger Yanker too. thumb

That sure is a tough bunch of groups for me to "attempt" to beat. Big Grin

EekerOf some surprise was the fact that the point of impact varied as much as 2" depending on manufacturer. fishingroger

    Bartche,
I have the same gun with the brown laminated stock. I have not had the opportunity to try the high grade ammo that you've got, but with the stuff I used it was reasonable, in my mind. Congrats on a great gun and hope that it works well for a long time for you.
    Good hunting,

I did yesterday! Both the 35gr.HP and the 40gr. solid did quite well. Both produced 1" groups or better at 50 yds.

As a matter of interest , an elderly gentleman was using his new CZ 22rf with Federal Champion 40 gr. solid ammo and getting quater size 20 round groups at 50 yds.for the most part. Eekerroger
